Most visitors need permission to enter Sri Lanka before they arrive, usually through the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) process. Rules, fees and eligible countries change from time to time, so always confirm the current requirements on the official Sri Lankan government immigration website before you apply.
What you will usually need
- A passport valid for at least six months after your arrival date.
- Your arrival date and an address for your first night, usually a hotel.
- A return or onward ticket.
- A debit or credit card for the application fee.
- Contact details, including an email address that you check regularly.
Apply early, but not too early
Apply a few days to a couple of weeks before travel. Approval is often quick, but allowing extra time avoids last-minute stress, and an ETA is valid for a limited period after approval.
Use only official channels
There are many look-alike websites that charge extra fees. Apply through the official government site, or ask a trusted local agent to guide you through it so that you are not paying for a copy.
How Suri Tours can help
We do not issue visas, but our visa facility makes the process easier: we check your details before you submit, supply the hotel confirmations that the application asks for, and remind you which documents to carry on arrival.
Tell us your nationality and travel dates and we will explain what usually applies to you. For official rules, always rely on the government source.
